Fall 2026 Races in New Brunswick: Your Autumn Running Calendar
Fall is the best running season in New Brunswick — cool mornings, peak foliage, and a race calendar that fills every weekend from Labour Day to Halloween. Here's a runner's guide to the fall 2026 races in New Brunswick, whether you're chasing a PB or just want a reason to get outside before winter.
Full disclosure: this guide is published by the organizers of the Trails-Giving 5K — we've marked our own event below. Always confirm dates on the Run NB calendar and each race's official site.
September
- Fundy Circuit Trail Race — Fundy National Park. New Brunswick's iconic trail race weekend, with shorter distances too. Rugged, gorgeous, and a bucket-list item for Maritime trail runners.
- Terry Fox Run — communities across NB. Mid-September, non-competitive, everywhere from Moncton to Bathurst. The classic season opener.
October
- ★ Trails-Giving 5K — Dieppe (Monday, October 12 — our event). New Brunswick's Thanksgiving Monday run. A 5 km run/walk from the Dieppe Aquatic Centre to Parc Rotary St-Anselme, 10 minutes from Moncton. Chip timed by Atlantic Chip, medal for every finisher, free shuttle to the start, and proceeds support the non-profit MDR Trails trail network. First edition — and the only race that lets you earn your turkey dinner before noon on the holiday itself. Early bird CA$35/$20 until September 7. Register on Race Roster → or see the full event details.
- Legs for Literacy — Moncton (late October). Greater Moncton's biggest race weekend: marathon, half, 10K and 5K, with proceeds supporting local literacy programs. A great "A race" if you're building through the fall — and if Legs for Literacy is your goal race, the Trails-Giving 5K on October 12 is the perfect chip-timed tune-up two weeks out.
- PEI Marathon Weekend — Charlottetown (mid-October). Just over the bridge; a popular road trip for NB runners wanting a fall full or half marathon.
How to build your fall season
A tidy Maritime fall block looks like this: use a September event as a rust-buster, run the Trails-Giving 5K on October 12 as a fast, low-stress tune-up (a holiday-Monday 5K is the perfect race-pace workout), then peak for your goal race — Legs for Literacy or the PEI Marathon — shortly after. Families can skip the periodization talk entirely: a friendly 5K with a medal for every finisher is simply the nicest way to spend Thanksgiving morning.
